Capital Medellin is a fund of venture capital promoted by Alcaldía de Medellin, Caja de Compensación Familiar Comfama, and Technological Base Company Incubator of Antioquia (Iebta) that seeks to be an instrument of financing for the starting of new companies, the strengthening of the plans of expansion and the growth of the companies of recent creation in the city.

This fund seeks to finance projects and companies that do not have a record that allows the financial institutions to trust in the results that they can obtain when they grant its credits. Capital Medellin looks for projects and companies of rapid growth, in an early stage of development, that presents business innovative models.

The principal target of this financial activity is to achieve a high profit of the success of the companies that receive the investment.

The investments of venture capital are carried out through:

• Acquisition of company shares

• Subscription of new shares

• Obligations convertible in shares

To whom is it directed?

To business people and entrepreneurs who need credits, who do not have credit record and who have a business or an innovative idea that is under construction.

Requirements:

• The fund will only invest in limited liability companies for the implications in solidarity in fiscal and labor matter.

• The companies must certify compliance with their tax, benefits and social security payments in their fiscal and parafiscal obligations.

• The companies, object of investment, will have to be affiliated to Comfama.

• In case of investments in projects are realized, these will have to be constituted as limited companies before the reception of the resources of the fund.

Who can benefit?

They will be able to benefit from the resources and services of Capital Medellin:

Projects of creation of companies

• That have a business finished and validated plan.

• That have prototypes of its products or services validated commercially.

• That have a financial evaluation of his project.

• That have a work team strategically shaped.

•  That presents innovative elements in his business models.

• That belongs to any of the following cluster: specializing services of health, dressmaking, design and fashion, software development, tourism of events and business, forest products, food, energy and public services, construction and improvement of constructions.

Companies of recent creation with less than four years of being constituted

• To be a limited liability company or to be arranged and to carry out the requisites of transformation to limited liability company.

• To have a business plan clearly faced to the expansion and growth.

• To have an evaluation of the company.

• The company, object of investment, will have to be affiliated to Comfama.

• The companies must certify compliance with their tax, benefits and social security payments in their fiscal and parafiscal obligations.

• The company must present innovative elements in his business model.

• That the company belongs to any of the following cluster: specializing services of health, dressmaking, design and fashion, software development, tourism of events and business, forest products, food, energy and public services, construction and improvement of constructions.
